Who are we?

We are a non-profit organisation with the aim of spreading Chinese traditions onto the wider community. We are the biggest Chinese Society in Sussex, made up of members of the Chinese community in and around Brighton. The chairman of the Society is Tom Lam (pictured here with the Mayor of Brighton and Hove in 2014) and his dedication is what has made this Society successfully grow from strength to strength each year.

What do we do?

Every Sunday, we hold classes for all age groups teaching Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Lion Dancing. We also have classes teaching children of all ages Mandarin and Cantonese (including speaking, reading and writing). Anyone is welcome, regardless of your prior knowledge. All of our martial arts are traditional Chinese style and have been taught by masters in Hong Kong.

We do performances and celebrations for restaurants or shops be it an opening ceremony or an anniversary. We are also known for our Chinese New Year celebrations including a lion dance the length of Preston Street and a performance at Hove Town Hall, to which the Society, along with many other performers, play, sing or dance to an audience of several thousand, including the Mayor of Brighton and Hove.
